Isabella Flores and I decided to create a website for our 20% time project. On the website we will be talking about how social media effects others. We will be focusing mainly on how it affects people closer to our age group ranging from 12 to 18 years old. We will be posting weekly information on all the ways social media takes hold on people and how it changes their point of view on things. Here are some links of websites that we will be using in order to get our information.website 1 Website 2 We will also be putting in information that we witness personally.

This week we have started to create our website. It was a very easy proccess since we did use a template. Our first post will be most likely be sometime this week or next week. However, we want to make sure the website is to our liking before we publish it. This picture is a screenshot of what our website looks like. We still need to fix and add things, however it's coming together very nicely.

                                                                                                                                                                                11/18/20

This week we finally finished creating our website and published it. We also decided to make our first post today which was an introduction of why we created it. We also decided that for our future posts we are going to be doing social experiments to test out our theories. If you would like to preview our website this is the link to see it. The website still needs some tweeks but overall we are very proud of how it looks.

This week for our 20 time project we have published another post. This weeks post talks about the current ourtburst of drama in social media. We talk about how everyone is being effected in bad ways. We have also finished a page in the website that talks about who we are and why the website was created.

                                                                            12/2/20

This week for our 20 time project we have created another post. We also had to redo a page because it somehow got deleted. After we finished redoing that we created another blog post. This weeks blog post is about how people use social media to make new friends. We talked about all the bad things that could happen when meeting a stranger online. In a few weeks we will try to return back to this topic and talk about the small list of pros so people can be more informed.

This week for our 20 time project we have made some more progress. Our post this week talks about social media beauty standards and how they aren't realistic. Most of the time whenever you see something online it is fake. Just like pictures and videos of people. They use certain things to make people see them a certain way. Some things they do to change the way they look is using certain angles, makeup, and they use certain editing tools. We want to make people aware to not always believe what you see online and to not compare yourself to something so unrealistic. We also decided to change some of what our website looks like to become more appealing to the eye.

For this week in our blog we talked about how easy it is for social media to trick their viewers. It was so easy that it even became a trend for people to try to trick their followers into thinking they traveled to places such as paris when in reality they were at the paris hotel in vegas. All they had to do was take a few believable pictures, post them, and nobody was suspect a thing. However companies also do this when trying to advertise their product. They would take a nice picture of their product but when people recieve it, the quality is very cheap just to get you to swipe your card. For example this social media influencer below succeeded to trick his veiwers into think he went to the annual music festival known as Coachella.

In our blog this week we dicided to go with the topic of influencer expectations. I feel like this topic was interesting because a lot of times an influencer's mental health changes because of the hate they receive from making human mistakes. Influencers such as Charli D'amelio or Nessa Barret have said themselves that they are "tired of not doing anything right." I don't think it's right for them to receive so much hate such as death threats or hate comments for just living their lives, and a lot of times that puts their mental health at risk, because they don't exeed the expectations or lifestyles that fans make for them.

                                                                         4/7/20

For this week in our blog we decided to talk about peer pressure and cyber bullying. A lot of kids experince cyber bullying and peer pressure because they are not careful on social media. They make "inernet friends" that can influence them to do bad things. I think people need to be more cautious when on social media.

For today's topic we decided to focus on something more positive that comes out of social media. People who use their platform for good will spread awareness and talk about important topics such as the black lives matter movement or even global warming. Many continue to talk about such topics and some even advertise petitions to create change. Others will also help people or will try to help with the after math of a natural distaster by volunteering or donating to organizations. We want to make sure that everyone is aware that social media is used for good as much as it may be problematic.

For this weeks blog post we wanted to touch on the subject of things that are trending on social media.  We wanted people to be more cautious about anything that trends becuase it might not be very smart or safe. For example a few years ago there was a cinammon challenge where people would eat a spoon full of cinnamon to see if they could handle the spice and the dryness of it. As you may notice it may not have been the smartest thing to do, because it was so dry, many people could have choked. However that isn't the only challenge that wasn't safe, there are so many more but we decided to only give that example.

This week is our last week working on the 20% time project. Personally i have learned more about both the pros and the cons about social media. We all know it can be a dangerous place but it doesn't always have to be if you use it correctly. I had fun informing others about our findings in social media as well. My favorite post was probably the one where we talked about how influencers use their platform for good. I think people like to label social media as a bad thing, and sometimes it can be, however it's not all bad. Perhaps theres even more good than bad. While researching that topic I even found a list of some amazing people who used their platform for change. I think it was a nice experience to have created a website such as this one.
